- Performing prescribed burns every 15 years
- Monitoring water levels and maintaining proper chemical balance within the water
- Working in conjunction with “Friends of Blue Spring” to increase public awareness
- Promoting concept of “take nothing but photographs, and leave nothing but footprints”
- Installing boardwalks to minimize habitat damage and discourage visitors from straying out of designated areas
Blue Spring State Park might further promote sustainability by:
- Increasing funding to hire more employees who can enforce that visitors do not harm the habitat
Educating the public to increase awareness of the consequences of damaging habitat
- Following through with acquiring land north of Blue Spring to create a wilderness corridor to Ocala National Forest
