Endangered Species

Blue Spring State Park is home for at least 15 threatened and endangered plants and animals some of which are the West Indian Manatee, Florida scrub jay, gopher tortoise, and the black bear. This makes it so important to manage and control invasive species because they can have an effect on the wildlife which depends on the natural parks species to survive. A big way to prevent these invasive species from entering the park is by making the visitors aware of the consequences, because the problem is not them knowing whether it is permitted but the consequences of doing so. Blue Spring has signs everywhere you look telling tourists do not litter, do not throw anything into the park but it continues to occur. Tourists who come to see the park and admire the wildlife are the same ones who are playing a role in introducing invasive species as well.
