Tourism Survey

On February 6, despite the cold weather, there were quite a few people at the spring. Of the twenty-five individuals interviewed, all indicated that they at the spring to see the manatees.

There were also a small number who indicated they were partaking of other activities like camping or picnicking.

This was expected given the season. During the winter refuge, visitors are not allowed to swim or dive in the spring. The purpose of visitors to the park would be different should the interviews take place during the spring or summer.

Everyone spoken to was there as part of a larger group. One gentleman interviewed came to camp with a group of 20 from North Carolina.

Most of the people interviewed came from out of state. They came from Canada, New Jersey, New York, and other US states. For many, visiting Blue Spring was a small part of a visit encompassing more popular tourist attractions like Disney.

Of the Floridians interviewed, some were regular visitors to the parks, coming from Volusia and Orange Counties. A few brought visiting relatives.
